Every millionaire knows the secrets to success and if you’ve been online for any amount of time you’ve been assaulted with emails and websites telling you that if you just follow this one simple system you too could be the next internet millionaire.
What these sites forget to tell you is it is not the system that makes you the next internet millionaire it’s the mindset. I know that I have spent a great deal of time adapting the mindset of millionaires. After all I want a life where my days are spent raising my kids and loving my spouse. I want to choose where I live and how I spend my evenings.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was serving beer and nachos at night while my husband was home with the kids, then the next morning he would be out the door only to return home just in time for me to leave again. This definitely was not a time when I was thinking like a millionaire.
So in an effort to help each and every one of you I have written out the 12 things every millionaire knows, the 12 things every millionaire has, that is 12 things that you need so you can have an abundance filled life.
Here is to you and your Abundance in 2009…
ACTION – In the movie the Secret a woman is shown taking action when asked to join friends for lunch. At lunch she finds the man of her dreams. If you never take action you will never achieve what you are looking for. It all comes down to action, you can’t move forward without it.
ATTITUDE – Here is the one phrase that my kids will repeat anytime someone says the word attitude…”Good Attitude – Good Results, Bad Attitude – Bad Results”. I was 14 when I learned it; I am 38 and still living it.
COMMUNICATION - Communication takes place in spoken words, written words, body language and facial expression. So what are you communicating with the world? Is your hair a mess, are your clothes sloppy, do you walk with your shoulders slumped and eyes down cast. Mary Kay of Mary Kay cosmetics was a master at communication and she believed that you should rise from bed everyday, put on your makeup and communicate your confidence to the world. And just incase you didn’t know she was widowed a week before opening the doors of Mary Kay Cosmetics, yet she still communicated her confidence to the world.
CONFIDENCE – When you have confidence in your own abilities every area of your life will improve. Enough Said!
CREATIVITY – Creativity is God’s energy flowing through you. So why would you ever say your not creative, everyone is creative. When you realize this you will move yourself and your life into an entirely new dimension.
DECIDE – One of my favorite lines from a Jimmy Buffett song is “Indecision may or may not be my problem”. You have to become a fast, accurate, bold decision maker. When you learn to make a decision and take action on it you will multiply your effectiveness and begin to skyrocket.
GOALS – When I was in college I took part in an honors seminar about goal setting. The biggest thing I learned was a goal with out a deadline is nothing more than a dream. I went home that night and set a goal to have my first internship by the end of the semester. Then each night I would review what I had done toward obtaining that goal. I had the job within 6 weeks. Here is what I want you to do in 2009, set a goal just bigger than you think you can reach. Then each night take a moment to review what you did today toward obtaining that goal. Do this everyday and before you know it you will have reached your goal.
MONEY – When I was younger I always thought that money is freedom. What I didn’t know is that money is freedom if you’re ready to for it. Every time someone wins the lottery you hear about how the last big winner lost everything in the first couple of years. You need to decide how much money you want and what you are going to do with it. For me, I give my first 10% to God, then I pay my bills and care for my family, I save some, I invest some and finally the fun part I share with friends. Often times it comes in the form of buying extra food and making dinner for the widow down the street, or baking cookies to take to neighbors. In 2009 what are you going to do with your money?
PERSISTENCE – Have you ever quite when something got hard. How about that new exercise program, did you quite when your muscles were sore the day after exercising. How about that diet, did you quite when that first slice of decadent moist chocolate cake was set before you. Persistence is a strengthening quality that every person needs. It is a common characteristic of all successful people.
RESPONSIBILITY – I already know you’re responsible, you pay your bills, you feed your family so why include responsibility? Because responsibility is your key to freedom. When you take real responsibility for your life you will find yourself living in an ever increasing world of abundance and success.
RISK TAKING – Evaluate risk and then do what I like to call “Ready, Fire, Aim”. Every thing in life is a risk, getting married, having children, building a website. Even going to the grocery store has risk. So what are you going to do, you are going to take risks and propel yourself forward. 2009 is not your year for fear it is your year to be a bold risk taker.
SUCCESS – Your mind has to be ready for success. It’s not easy being wealthy, happy and successful. How many millionaires have you heard about who are on a third marriage or who’s kids are in trouble with the law. It’s because they were not balanced and truly ready for success. In 2009 take 1 minute out of every day, I do this just before bed, and picture you a success. You decide what a success is, is it a corner office, a 100 acre ranch or two weeks vacation every year. You decide and then picture yourself as a success, one minute every day. Before you know it you’ll be there because you’ll be ready for success.
I want 2009 to be your most Abundant and Successful year ever. So take control of your life and get ready to propel yourself to the life you always dreamed of.
